Arrived by VIA Canada train. Can either reach hotel via the underground path (complex at first) or across the road after exit the station (easy). Hotel located on 10th floor. Signage to indicate location of lobby and concierge found on ground floor. Store luggage on ground floor. The outside is of old design but the hotel inside is very modern and calm. Reception and restaurant staff were friendly and polite. No staff strike while we were there. No lifts to rooms so ask for room on same floor as the Reception. Otherwise only a few steps to next floor. Comfy bed. Bathrobes provided for use going to heated pool. Keurig coffee machine with coffee provided. Tea, sugar and creamer provided. No electric kettle. Fridge. Restaurant has a reasonable selection. Hotel close to tourist attractions and easily reached by foot (5-15 mins). Train and subway across the road/via underground path. Took subway to St Joseph Oratory. Chinatown has several good places to eat (Kam Fong for yum cha). Montreal is a nice city and not crowded like Toronto. Beautiful and clean with many trees in the city. As expensive as Toronto. People here are very much bi-lingual.

The location was excellent. Very central and across the street from the train station and pretty much walking distance to most places located in the city. The room I got was really nice (I think I read that some rooms are still being refreshed, but that wasn’t my case) and very large! My room had a king sized bed, there was also a sofa, a table and chairs if you wanted to eat or do work and then also a seating area near the window. As far as amenities go, the breakfast included was really good and a great way to start the day (the staff member who managed the breakfast buffet was also very charming. It was nice starting the day with a staff member who always seemed like they were in a good mood). Also the gym facilities were top notch. It was easy to get my workout in. They had pretty much any type of equipment you’d want. Overall, I would say I had a good experience and would definitely stay here again despite the annoying issues that I wrote about below.

The hotel Bonaventure is a gem. Nestled right in downtown Montreal, the elevator to the top of the building belies the incredible scene you walk into when you arrive. A few floors of wonder, anchored by a winter wonderland courtyard, where you can swim out to the heated pool and watch as the steam rises above the water and your hair forms tiny icicles. Incredible for families, Incredible for people, A must stay. The staff are kind and courteous and helpful, the towels are abundant, and they have the best lighting options of any hotel I've ever stayed it, which is especially important when traveling with family and all staying in one room. You will not be dissappointed.

I was tired, confused, and alone in a city I didn't know. I was scared I wouldn't have a roof over my head for the night. Then I walked into Hôtel Bonaventure. The staff were so patient and kind with me as they did their best to make sure I had somewhere to stay, and I could not be more grateful for their help. Plus, the outdoor pool with a small waterfall attached to it was very enjoyable, and breakfast was delicious. And it's always a good thing when the first thing the breakfast waiter offers you is coffee. Would highly recommend!

Outdoor pool was amazing, so beautiful swimming at night, looking up at the sky and city lights. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. There were gardens, a beautiful duck pond and waterfalls to enjoy right in the heart of the city. The hotel overall had a great energy and atmosphere. Very convenient location, right across the street from the Gare Centrale and a 15 minute walk to Old Montreal.
